Lindsay MacDonald Vermeulen

Lindsay is a PhD student in the Computational Media Design Interdisciplinary Graduate Group at the University of Calgary, co-supervised by Dr. Sheelagh Carpendale and Dr. Jean-René Leblanc. Lindsay's approach to research and creative production combines methodologies from computer science, design and art. She is a member of the Interactions Lab (iLab), working as a part of the InnoVis research group. Her research interests include behaviour and performance in interactive art installations, interaction design and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Her interactive installations have been exhibited across Canada and have received support from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), Alberta Foundation for the Arts, SurfNet, Alberta Innovates Technology Futures, GRAND, and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

She has an MFA in Computational Media Design from the University of Calgary, a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studio Practice from NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and another BFA in painting and digital media from the University of Calgary. She has worked as an instructor producer, freelance editor, animator, and creative and technical consultant. She comes to the U of C from The Banff New Media Institute, where she served as Production Coordinator for the Co-production Program.
